Ashley and Levent explore stories around loss, loneliness, social anxiety and passive aggression. In The Unkown these stories are expressed through dance and clowning, using hip hop theatre practice and culture.
The Dance House's adult dancers perform at theatre nights, festivals, shows and events, including at venues Three Sisters Bar and Edinburgh Street Food, events such as Wildhood Festival, National Museum Lates, Leith Festival, Hidden Door Festival, Breakin' Rules and more! Multiple advanced adults crews and companies are based at the Dance House, including Monarchy, WAMNAM, K-OW and HD Company, who train at our studio, perform at Dance House productions such as the annual IGNITE Hip Hop Festival and the Princes St Gardens Summer Show, and are available for external performances, from high-energy event performances of hip hop, breaking, commercial, k-pop and more, to thought-provoking, impactful theatre works.
The Dance House's talented Youth Dance Companies, Blueprint, the Groundbreakers and Out of the Box, are highly regarded and have often been invited to perform hip hop theatre pieces at prominent events around Scotland such as Breakin' Convention (Edinburgh tour date), IGNITE hip hop theatre night, Breakin' Rules, Wildhood Festival, Leith Festival, Meadows Festival, the Scottish Parliament's 20th anniversary celebrations, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. All of the Dance House's young dancers have the chance to take part in The Dance House's annual Summer Show, held at the Ross Bandstand in Princes St Gardens – a vibrant day showcasing the students' talent!

HD COMPANY - 'OFFLINE'
Choreographed by Kelsey 'Hydro' Miller, 'Offline' explores different types of hip hop energy, embracing the connection between dance and musicality, with strong, expressive movements to beats, bass, lyrics and other musical elements. 'Offline' journeys from powerful and dominant emotions, through gritty, militant energies and on to reflective, softer moments, culminating in a burst of all-out dynamism.

OUT OF THE BOX YOUTH COMPANY
'Stumbles': Teenage life in motion: full of pressure, regrets and dreams. Choreographed by Wayne Chang & Maisie Thomson, 'Stumbles' is a raw and kinetic exploration of young peoples' highs and lows. As they navigate through missteps and grow from mistakes, they discover that every stumble leaves its scar and also sparks hope, in this bold and moving journey.

Together, Apart: Choreographed by Krystal Karakosta @krystall_kara Through moments of breaking away and returning, the dancers reflect how we grow, change, and find our own voices without losing connection to those around us. The piece examines when to follow, when to stand apart, and the courage it takes to make individual choices showing that influence goes both ways, and that individuality does not separate us, but strengthens the whole.

HYDROGEN x DANCE HOUSE DANCERS
Hydrogen founder Kelsey 'Hydro' Miller choreographed and created new theatre work, 'Snooze' for the Dance House adult dancers, performed at Ignite hip hop theatre night in 2025: A dreamstate with a touch of reality. A variety of abstract realities blend with diverse textures and feelings while in the flow state between sleep and waking. Each section of the piece emulates different energies within hip hop and street dance.
This joining of Hydrogen and Dance House led to the creation of HD Crew and HD Company, comprising adult Dance House dancers and led by Kelsey Miller.

Adult companies based at the Dance House took to the stage in February 2024 for the inaugural edition of our annual hip hop theatre night, IGNITE. The first edition was held at the Traverse theatre in Edinburgh, and featured WAMNAM, TMRW Crew, Scottish Breakers, Out of the Box and the Groundbreakers. IGNITE returned for 2025 at the larger Church Hill Theatre, featuring 8 performances of impactful hip hop dance theatre work, created in Scotland.
