WHAT TO EXPECT AT A CLASS

FINDING US:

Our purpose-built studio is inside Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Leith - we think we're the only dance studio in the UK to be inside a shopping centre, though it's quite common in other countries!

Ocean Terminal centre has a multi-storey carpark that's free all day, is on the tramline from central Edinburgh, and is on several bus routes.

To find us, if you park in the carpark, go to Level C and then when you enter the centre, you'll find us a couple of units in on the right hand side, in between HMV and Starbucks. If you arrive by bus or tram or walking, from the main entrance, head up the escalator to Level 1 and we're just ahead on the left.

When you come in, you'll be in our reception area and waiting room, which has some sofas, a changing cubicle and a window into the studio. Just outside the studio, we also have a community space with a 5x4m dance floor and some tables and chairs, where you can spend time before or after class, and practice if you'd like to. When you arrive at the studio, check in for your class at the Reception desk.

THE STUDIO SPACE:

The studio is a big, open space with wooden flooring and a wall of mirrors on one side. The floor is sprung, which means it's a bit bouncey, to make it more comfortable jumping on. In the ceiling, we have white lights and small coloured lights - sometimes during a class we'll have the bright lights on, and sometimes just the coloured lights. There's also four coloured spotlights above the mirrors that can be made different colours, and can point at the back wall, or onto the floor.

At the far end of the studio from where you come in, there's another door - through that door is a bathroom for during class, and a kitchen to fill up water bottles.

WHAT A CLASS IS LIKE:

Many of our adults classes run back to back, so you'll be able to enter the studio just at the start of class time. When you arrive at the studio, check in for your class at the reception desk - if you've already booked, you can just give your name, or if you haven't booked the class yet, we can book you into the class when you arrive (as long as there's still spaces available).

Adults classes are open to anyone aged 14yrs and older, and we have a wide range of ages attending classes, with many attendees in their 20s, 30s and 40s, including beginners!  Some classes, like k-pop and commercial, attract slightly younger dancers in their teens and 20s. Adults of all ages are very welcome in all of our classes!

We have classes of all different levels. If you're brand-new to dance, we'd recommend starting with one of our beginner level classes such as Hip hop, House, Commercial or Breaking. Our Open Level classes are open to everyone to attend, whether you have experience or not, while our Intermediate - Advanced level classes are taught at a faster paced and aimed at those with previous dance experience! If you're not too sure which style or level would be best for you, don't hesitate to get in touch to chat with us :)
